Living without a Computer

October 5, 2023

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

I don’t have a computer, but I do have an iPhone and an iPad with a keyboard so it’s like having a mini computer. I would need an alarm clock because I use my phone to wake me up and would watch the news on television instead of checking on my phone. I wouldn’t be able to keep in contact with my family abroad.

I wouldn’t be able to order items from Amazon and other retailers which would mean going to the shops which I still do but with so many retailers going into administration there isn’t as much choice anymore for certain items.

I would probably go back to telephoning family and friends instead of texting or sending a message via messenger. Also write letters and send nice cards to catch up. I do still post my best friend a card now and then because I know it cheers her up when things aren’t going so well.

Social media is great for me because having fibromyalgia I don’t make plans any more because I don’t know how I’m going to be feeling so I can keep in contact with people. I can do my food shop online if I need to. I think I would find it hard without a computer, but I could live without it if I had to. I used to go on holiday and leave my phone at home on purpose to escape modern day life. I think it would be challenging living without a computer but at the moment I’m happy to use one, be it my iPhone or iPad because the way the world is these days I need this technology, especially for listening to music on Spotify because without music life would be very dull. Music is so magical. For me it gives me a natural high, especially dance music when I need to get going in the morning.
