Music
What would your life be like without music?
Life without music would be very boring and quiet. I love listening to music and depending on my mood will depend on what type of music I listen to. One of my favourites even at age 54 is dance music. It gives me a natural high. Great for when I need lifting up, cleaning or doing the ironing. Yet sometimes I will listen to classical music. People are often surprised by my different tastes in music.
Sometimes it’s rap, dance, pop, indie, classical, jazz. I’m not a fan of heavy metal though. Since getting a Bluetooth adaptor for my car my daughter and I can listen to all our favourites on our Spotify playlists. Her favourites are The Weeknd and Chase Atlantic, both of them she saw live in the UK this year. I like them too.
A few of my favourite dance songs are Insomnia by Faithless, Need to Feel Love by Reflekt and Cafe del Mar by Energy 52. There are so many others though. My favourite rap song is Rappers Delight by The Sugar Hill Gang. When I want something of a lighter mood nothing beats Etta James or Nina Simone. Let’s talk about Motown. Wow, how anyone cannot get up and dance to Motown I don’t know. I’m glad I got to see David Bowie live when I was 18 in the south of France on his Glass Spider Tour.
I think most people like Fleetwood Mac’s song The Chain. Such a great song. At the moment I’m enjoying listening to Cannons, London Grammar, Glass Animals, The Neighbourhood and new dance music. One song that always used to get me up on the dance floor and I always requested it was Chic, Le Freak. I could sit here and write for hours about how many different songs and artists I like but my daughter is sat patiently waiting for me to watch The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart on Amazon.
Music is magical. It is like medicine for the soul. Without it life would be dull. Nothing beats driving along an empty road in the summer with the windows down and your favourite music very loud. It’s such a good feeling.
